Hi Please help . . . I've tried editing my check-in for Watson and Brown four times now and each time it reverts to the original. Please could you replace 'Fresh sandwiches' with: 'Splendid sandwiches made while you wait using own cooked ham, pork etc. Hot roast meat sandwiches at lunchtime. Also great porkpies!' I also wanted to remove the word 'Butchers' from the title. It is a very good butchers but my entry only refers to the delicatessen side so I thought it was a bit confusing . . . Can you think of anything I might be doing wrong to make it reject my amendments?- I made sure I was signed in.
Thanks for putting the title and description to The Beer Parlour on for me. I'd like to add some more details and maybe a sound file but I'll wait until I hear back from you before I try editing again! If you don't mind you could add the hashtag 'thirsty' is it? I'm not sure how to do that anyway.
Also, I thought I'd uploaded a photo for Butlers Family Bakers but it seems to have disappeared - any ideas?
Thanks again for such a great site! Cheers Christina
Hi Christina, Sorry for the delay - I've been out and about. I believe the problem here is that we have a limit on the number of characters that can be in a description. I tried to paste your text in and the same thing happened - it didn't update. I then shortened your text slightly, and it worked. So - you've helped us identify an error. We will 1) Make sure there is a message telling you the Description is too long. 2) Allow you to edit it, rather than make you lose what you've typed. 3) Display a 'characters remaining' On the web site, as soon as possible.
With regards to the #thirsty tag.We owe you a blog post on this - and other new features. We're holding off until the new iPhone app version is approved.
Events tags are a simple way that anyone can create a collection of checkins - just like twitter tags; except that you need to set them up first, on the event page. Anyone can create a new Tag - for whatever reason. To contribute to an event, just include the hashtag in your checkin description. So, Thirsty is a tag we use for checkins by lovers of great local drinks - http://app.lovefre.sh/events/thirsty.
One of the benefits of Events Tags is that anyone can copy the embed code for them, and embed them on their Blog - we are introducing a more extensive 'widget' to allow people to create custom maps too.
With regards to your photo - that's a mystery. All I can suggest is that next time you're they're you check in again with a photo. We would encourage people to check in whenever they visist a place - and changes in the way checkins are displayed are coming soon, to aggregate these to give people a better idea of how much 'love' there is for a producer or place :)
Hope this helps - let me know. Meanwhile - thanks for the kind words. We've only just begun and are working hard to make the app a little more social and functional.
